Specialist Goalkeeping Centre
Movement comes before the save.
Purpose
Today's game makes the goalkeeper both the first and the last line of the team. As the first attacker and the last defender, she plays a decisive part in every phase of play.
The modern game demands nothing less than excellence: faultless technique with the hands and with the feet, and a tactical grasp that reads and anticipates the dynamics of play. Today's goalkeeper is a cornerstone of the team.
Mastery of movement and technique is essential. It gives the goalkeeper the tools to act with precision and composure in any situation.
Built on technique, confidence makes it possible to face challenges, absorb criticism and read the game — fewer errors, better outcomes.
Body — Soul — Mind — Determination. At C-SGD-B we train goalkeepers ready to meet every challenge with mastery and assurance.
What we develop with our goalkeepers
Athletic — technical — tactical — psychological. Together these cover everything optimal performance requires.
Coordination, footwork, flexibility, core strength, proprioception, speed, strength work, plyometrics, aerobic capacity.
Handling, diving, movement, claims on the ground and in the air, narrowing the angle, distribution, set pieces.
Reading the game, choosing the pass, managing space, high and low tempo, reflexes, reaction speed.
Concentration, emotional stability, confidence, determination, courage, handling gamesmanship.
And motivational: enjoyment, desire, character, personality.
How it works
Regular visits to partner clubs, so goalkeepers are followed and progress steadily through the season.
Targeted sessions, at the coaches' request, to correct what matches have revealed and sharpen specific areas.
Camps adapted to clubs of every size, giving each goalkeeper specific training and proper preparation.
How a camp runs
At camp, each day follows this shape.
A changing room, subject to the club's availability and permission
Playing area: half of an eleven-a-side pitch
Coaching equipment as partner clubs can provide: size 3, 4 and 5 balls, cones, ladders, hurdles
A room for classroom work: video, post-match review, mental preparation
The reason this centre exists
Goalkeeping is not only the save. It is played out in the waiting, in the footwork, in the distribution, in the way a player inhabits her area. That is what we train.
Handling The body drops before the hands do. Nothing is gathered standing up.
The waiting The longest part of the job, and the most poorly trained.
Back to the play Finding position without looking, from the memory of the space.
Holding the position Being the last one, and carrying it for ninety minutes.
“You do not lose your technique first.
You lose your availability first.”

Courses, cohorts, encounters
A coach keeps training for life, and never on his own. These images come from classrooms, pitches and the cohorts he passed through — in France, in Sweden, at Clairefontaine.

MOVEMENT
COMES BEFORE THE SAVE
This is not a technical manual. It is the account of a transformation: a goalkeeper discovering that movement always comes before the save, that the body understands before the mind does, and that performance is born first of the quality of movement.
Text, pagination and images are identical in all three languages: 228 pages, 47 chapters, the same spreads. Only the language changes.
